The successful candidate must have a knack for innovative solutions to technically challenging problems through work experience in research, or product/process improvement and product development environments.

The candidate must have the ability to work independently in a team-based environment and collaborate with scientists, process development engineers and chemical engineers to conduct research and development, including bench work through pilot scale product production. In a high throughput discovery environment, the candidate will focus on: the synthesis of chemical compounds research projects; conducting chemical synthesis research on the design, execution, and interpretation of reactions and the acquisition of know-how and experience in the synthesis of molecules. This position is for a scientist with strong skills and experience in chemistry. The work will include analysis of compounds utilizing chromatography, spectroscopy, and spectrophotometer techniques to determine chemical and physical properties, composition, structure, relationships, and reactions. The activities will entail the compilation and analysis of test information to determine process or equipment operating efficiency and to diagnose malfunctions.  The candidate must be competent in all standard purification and analytical techniques such as chromatography (GC and HPLC), fractional distillation, crystallization and the interpretation of spectra (FTIR, UV-Visible, AA). Experience in parallel synthesis is a plus. An inquisitive, problem-solving disposition is required. In this role, the candidate will take responsibility for assigned projects from inception to completion. The candidate will generate project requirements to resolve product/process problems and to support development of new products/processes.
